When Sir Walter Raleigh introduced the smoking of tobacco (in a pipe) to the Elizabethan court in 1585, he had no idea what kind of cultural revolution he had started. Up until 1881 the pipe was king, when the cigarette machine was first invented. The combination of a newly discovered stimulant, the tobacco -- and a free enterprise European market, made sure …

About Pipe Mike

Tue Jan 19, 2010 3:17 am by Admin (Pipe Mike)

Hi all! I'm Michael (Pipe Mike). I've been smoking and collecting pipes for many years now, and have a decent collection of 24 pipes. I enjoy prospecting, rock hounding, cooking, gardening, riding my motorcycle and many other outdoor activities.

I live in Victorville, California which is located between Ontario and Barstow. Many people pass by here on the way to and from Las Vegas, which …

Hi Everyone ~ Thanks for stopping by. I hope you'll become a member of this forum, and help me make if a fun site that pipe smokers can enjoy. There are several pipe related forums out there, so I appreciate your visit. I'd like to ask you that when you become a member, to please write something about you here such as your hobbies, activities, location, things you'd like to do before you die, etc. that will start a dialog with the members. I plan to have specific topics in the posts that will fine tune discussions, but this should basically be a "get to know ya" area. You can write something that's already in your profile, or something that isn't there. That way, people can feel as if they walked into a room and saw people talking, and either join in asking questions, or start their own conversations. After that - feel free to start a topic you think people would be interested in, making sure it's not already listed, just with some other wording. Please note, that this forum will not tolerate any harassment , belittling, or abuse of any kind. We will enjoy the common bantering amongst each other, though. That's a part of the forum that makes it interesting, as long as it's kept in check. Be sure to click on "Start a New Topic" for information about yourself, but click "Post Reply" to engage a person. So - Again, I thank you for stopping by, and hope you become a member and write something to start conversations going. Until next time - I'm Pipe Mike www.pipes4mike.com

  • FAVORITE B&M's TO VISIT

Please feel to give your local Brick & Mortar (B&M) retailer a plug. Try to limit your ad to just the name, location, website (if any), specialty (i.e. cigars, pipes, tobacco, RYO, etc.), and what they do to go out of their way to help the customer. If only have a P.O. box, or if they do not have a physical, walk-in location, then please put them in the category of On-line retailers.

  • YOU SHOULD VISIT THIS FORUM

Feel free to list an on-line forum that you feel everyone here should visit. Yes, I know that's sending people away from here, but - I like to share visitors. I even have links on my website to my competitors. I feel we should all be supportive of each other.
